Morgann+Kana

Traveling a musical journey...

Dreaming and performing together since 2002, flutists Kana Murakoshi and Morgann Davis officially formed the Dual Reveries duo in New York City during the summer of 2009. The two first met at The Ohio State University High School Flute Workshop, and their friendship and musical connection continued to grow while the pair completed their Bachelors degrees at Ohio State under the instruction of Katherine Borst Jones.

Ms. Murakoshi is currently an active freelance musician in Paris, performing with the Unis-Sons chamber music group, and at events in locations such as the Madagascar Embassy, and in many other settings in France. In the spring of 2011, she performed on Baroque flute in a production of a Lully opera in Paris. She has received several scholarships to support her study across Europe, including her participation in a masterclass in Cagliari, Italy. She has also received scholarships to support her study at the Ecole Normale Musique de Paris with flutist Jean Ferrandis. In 2010, she was a winner in the National Flute Association’s Convention Performers competition and was selected to perform at the national convention held in Anaheim, CA. Currently, Ms. Murakoshi is completing an advanced program of study with Jean Ferrandis at the Ecole Normale Musique de Paris. She received a Bachelor of Music in Flute Performance from The Ohio State University.

Ms. Davis is currently an active teacher and freelance musician in Madison and south central Wisconsin. She maintains an active private studio of 30 or more students in Madison and Hartland in addition to her responsibilities as Adjunct Professor of Flute at Maranatha College. A dedicated teacher, she also coaches chamber music and flute choir, a
nd has been on the faculty of the UW Madison Summer Music Clinic, UW Whitewater Flute Camp, and The Ohio State University Flute Workshop. Ms. Davis has subbed with orchestras including the Beloit-Janesville Symphony and the Madison Symphony. She was a finalist in the 2011 Neale-Silva Young Artist competition, and in 2008 won the Shain Woodwind and Piano Duo Competition with Thomas Kasdorf. Ms. Davis has pursued extended study with flutist Jean Ferrandis. She received a Master of Music in flute performance from the University of Wisconsin-Madison where she studied with Stephanie Jutt, and a Bachelor of Music in flute performance from The Ohio State University.

Both members of Dual Reveries have received scholarships from the Sigma Alpha Iota women’s music fraternity to study with Jean Ferrandis at his annual summer masterclasses (Kana in Cagliari, Italy, and Morgann in Courchevel, France). In 2010, they attended the MusicAlp festival in Courchevel, France together, where they studied individually with Mr. Ferrandis, and as a duo with Simone Feyraband.

Dual Reveries’ premier concert was given to a full house in November 2009 on the Zigloo concert series in the 9th district of Paris. The group toured three states in August of 2010 to celebrate their one year anniversary and will perform at the 2011 National Flute Association Convention.
